AUTHOR SUBMISSIONS
Our bookshop is happy to support local and independently published authors. We carry a range of independently published books across all genres, some of which are our bestselling titles. If you would like us to stock your book, please take a look at the following guidelines before submitting your proposal.
We love to see new authors and stories out in the world. Our bookshop is committed to championing new voices in literature, and offering an eclectic mix of books we know our customers will love. We recommend paying our shop a visit before sending us your submission, so you can take a look at the stock we carry and get an idea of what our customers and community enjoy. Please be aware that we no longer accept submissions in person, or over the telephone. We’re a small team (in a small shop!) and we like to give new books our full consideration before making a decision. This isn’t something we’re able to do immediately, and we like to be fair to everyone who has already submitted their work to us.
We’re unable to stock every book sent to us. We’re limited on space, and not every book is the right fit for our customers. If we decide to not take your book on, please don’t be discouraged. There are many factors to take into account when we consider stocking a new title, and a ‘no’ from us does not mean we don’t like your book, it might just be that our bookshop isn’t the best home for it.
We initially take on 1-2 copies of any new title. We unfortunately don’t have space for overstock, so we can only commit to carrying small amounts of stock at any given time. We take on independently published books on a sale or return basis, and will trial them for up to a six month period. If we find your books have not sold within this period, we will be in touch to arrange a collection for their return.
We accept all submissions by email, addressed to Charlotte at onemorechapter.notts@gmail.com – please be sure to write ‘Author Submission’ in the subject line. In your email, please include a bio, a brief description of the book, and an image of the book’s cover too.
Please do not drop in or post a copy of your book for us to read unless requested, we will be in touch if we would like to request a reading copy.
We kindly ask that all authors wanting us to stock their book get in touch this way. This is our preferred method of contact for submissions, and allows us the time to give your book our full attention and consideration. We will always try to give any book a go if we feel that it’s a good fit for our shop and customers.
We do try to respond as soon as we can, though please note that in busy periods our response times may vary.
We look forward to receiving your submission.
