My Story

How long have you been a bookseller?

I’ve been working for One More Chapter for about 4 months now, behind the scenes co-ordinating the admin, events and marketing side of the business.

What made you want to become a bookseller?

Life would be so boring without books and the wonderful way they transport you to another time and place so effortlessly. The opportunity to work for One More Chapter was a dream come true and combines my passion for reading with my love for all things admin and marketing.

What do you love about your job?

Being able to use my skills and experience to help realise Charlotte’s dream of bringing together a community of booklovers in the heart of the village where she grew up, and where I have called home for the past 10 years, is such a special opportunity. The team she has created is a joy to work alongside and seeing the wonderful, positive reception the store is having from the local community is a real blessing.

What’s your favourite section of the shop/genre and why?

I love historical fiction and if it has a sprinkling of romance then so much the better! Being able to immerse myself in another period of history is exciting, thought provoking and educational all at the same time.  I'm also partial to a quality romance with a good back story and you can often find me in-store thumbing through new titles and looking for my next read.

What books have you enjoyed reading recently?

The Briar Club by Kate Quinn has to be one of the best books I have ever read and really clever in the way it weaves together the stories of several women's very different lives and experiences in a shared narrative.  The Women by Kristin Hannah was thought provoking and powerful and Swept Away by Beth O’Leary was totally captivating and I literally read it in about 2 days!
